About DJ Supermarkt
The head of the Too Slow To Disco label, which offers an immersion in soft rock and yacht disco and brings back genres through remixes by current producers, Marcus Liesenfeld, has been well-known since the late 2000s. Back then, his focus was club pop on the verge of dance-punk and Japanese and Mexican lo-fi producers. With the latter, he created solid compilations for Bungalow Records, and under the promising label Le Hammond Inferno, he stamped selected hits. When all this stopped, Marcus, already an experienced but tired producer and DJ, was devastated to play in some province. The label closed, and his project partner moved overseas. Marcus didn’t even know what to write on the party poster and just looked out the window. A grocery store sign was flashing across the street. This is how DJ Supermarkt appeared, whose mixes of Balearic, mid-tempo, and indie became benchmarks.
