Ada lost a leg in the war and nearly lost the other, but doctors were able to save it. Thanks to Victory Beats music therapy at the Superhumans Center, she has been able to pursue her passion for drumming, which in turn has also helped with the rehabilitation of her leg. In this video, she shares her impressions, thoughts, and plans for the future.
Therapeutic playing of musical instruments
Playing musical instruments significantly improves memory, reduces stress and anxiety, helps with physical rehabilitation, and greatly boosts overall mood. Our instruments are available to everyone, and the classes are led by some of the best musicians in Ukraine. The sessions are designed so that visitors can continue practicing even after being discharged from the rehabilitation center.
Therapeutic music playing is not a school or an exam. The methodology is designed to make the process engaging, even (and especially) for those who have never held an instrument in their hands before. On average, patients stay in the centers for two weeks to a month, and even within this short period, they achieve noticeable success and experience a truly positive time.
Currently, we use piano, drums, various percussion instruments, guitars, a harmonica, and a DJ console.
Playing musical instruments also helps in physical rehabilitation after fractures nd during the adaptation process of using a prosthesis.
How music therapy restored mobility to Pavel's injured fingers
Pasha faced serious issues with his hand. Doctors said his fingers would never recover. But his unstoppable desire for self-realization, combined with a couple of months of guitar therapy at Victory Beats, proved that nothing is impossible. We are incredibly proud of Pavel!
Volodymyr about playing the harmonica and music therapy
Volodymyr has been recovering from a serious injury for several years. We almost missed him when he first came to see what Victory Beats music therapy was like at the Superhumans center. He accidentally noticed the harmonica and decided to try it. After a few weeks of classes, he shared his impressions and plans with us.
Oleksandr about music therapy and making dreams come true
Sasha is one of the students of the DJ courses at Victory Beats and DJBuro, part of our music therapy program for veterans and war victims at the Superhumans rehabilitation center. Today, Sasha reached another milestone in his studies by playing his first 40-minute set! We asked him to share his impressions of the event and his overall experience in the classes. Sasha is persistently moving toward his dream, and we are confident that he will succeed. Similarly, we are all moving toward another shared dream, and your support of volunteers is helping us bring it closer as quickly as possible.
