On July 13, the Lviv National Philharmonic and the Victory Beats charity organization are opening a new direction of work - art therapy art. The first event of the long-term program in 2025 will be a unique relaxation session with the participation of the Academic Symphony Orchestra, British composer Nigel Osborne and veteran of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Ivanko, who underwent rehabilitation at the Superhumans center, where he joined the VictoryBeats art therapy program.

Captain of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Ivanko is also a student of the EnterDJ recreational DJing course, he already has stage experience as a DJ and a bass guitarist. A year ago, Oleksandr was seriously injured, as a result of which he lost his leg. And during rehabilitation, a new component was added to his life: active artistic activity. Now he joins the event as a musician-innovator, using a MIDI controller as part of the academic orchestra. Oleksandr will perform an electronic track created as part of the Victory Beats program, the orchestral score for it was written by Nigel Osborne, a world-renowned composer and music therapist who has worked with people who have experienced trauma for decades.

The event is also designed to show how music becomes a means of rehabilitation, support, and finding inner support. Visitors will be able to immerse themselves in a special sound space, where electronic ambient music will organically combine with the live sound of string instruments.

“Probably, there has never been anything like this in Ukraine – playing ambient music with a symphony orchestra. It’s interesting, it’s a new practice, new knowledge. Someone may want to take up musical activities after the event. In this way, we can also promote music therapy as a form of rehabilitation” – Oleksandr Ivanko.

“The composition is conventionally divided into two parts and uses two approaches at once: associative and relaxation. Smoothly guiding the listener from the bright pictures that the imagination draws to the music to a cozy inner world, peace and harmony.” – Volodymyr Nedogoda, founder of Victory Beats and EnterDJ.

“As an orchestral arranger, I combined deep musical structures with changing electronic soundscapes. The composition slowly unfolds modern fugues and canons, and although the rhythmic track is almost entirely written in natural C major, these structures pass through all the musical modes of the early Renaissance, as well as modern jazz and minimalism. In a quiet way, the whole world is present here,” – Nigel Osborne.
