Taras Hrus’s Concert at the Dnipro Rehabilitation Center
Dnipro continues to delight us with heartwarming and vibrant concerts as part of our "Victory Beats" music therapy program. This time, we were visited by singer and soldier Taras Hrus. It was his first performance after a three-year hiatus due to military service, and it was truly unforgettable.
"I poured my emotions into the songs, and in return, I received even more by seeing those emotions reflected on the listeners' faces," says Taras. "Everyone was in tears: me, the reception staff, the tough security guards, and—I think—even the ginger dog in the courtyard. Afterward, the lovely ladies on the staff gave me big hugs, treated me to hot dogs and delicious pizza, and gifted me a fantastic T-shirt with a SUPERHUMANS patch. To top it all off, I received an open invitation to come back for coffee and gingerbread—an offer I’ll definitely take up. Because right now, we are sorely lacking moments that are this warm, sincere, and genuine."
Taras performed a number of songs created as part of the *Goodgarazd* music project. Goodgarazd.
"Yak Khochetsia" (How I Wish)
This song was born during the first days of the full-scale war. It reflects the emotions and experiences that overwhelmed millions of Ukrainians at the time: the start of volunteer work, the first missile strikes, the forced departure of one's family abroad, constant anxiety, and a complete lack of understanding regarding what was happening around us. It is an honest and deeply personal story about confusion and pain, yet also about the inner strength that helps us move forward.
"Pislia Viiny" (After the War)
This is a song of hope and a song of dreaming about the day the war finally ends in our Victory. It speaks of a future where people can once again live without fear, return home, embrace their loved ones, and begin rebuilding their lives. Symbolically, this very track opened the broadcast on Rock Radio UA following the liberation of Kherson, serving as a musical reminder that hope does not fade, even in the darkest of times.
"Ochi Tvoi" (Your Eyes)
I dedicated this song to my children, whom I did not see for a very long time due to the war. Despite the distance and separation, an invisible yet incredibly strong mental bond remains between us. One need only close one’s eyes, and it feels as though they are right there. It is a composition about love that transcends distance, about a parent's longing, about memory, and about faith in a future reunion.
"Tanets z Doishchem" (Dance with the Rain)
This song is dedicated to my friend and fellow soldier, Danya. ...to Pavlenko, who sustained severe injuries while carrying out a combat mission. This is not just a story about war, but also about human courage, an unbreakable spirit, and the strength to live on despite everything. "Dance with the Rain" is a symbol of struggle, inner pain, hope, and respect for those who face the toughest trials every day for the sake of Ukraine.
"Thank you! For the emotions. For the strength. For the inspiration. For reminding us once again that true superpowers aren't extraordinary abilities—they are people," adds Taras. We—the entire staff and all the patients at the Superhumans Center—say the same to him. Thank you!
